2017 CATS Awards

Bay Players’ Sam Lloyd has won the Canberra Area Theatre Awards Gold Cat trophy for 2017. The Gold Cat, which was presented in Canberra on the evening of Saturday 17 February 2018, recognised Sam’s ‘outstanding achievement in the areas of set design, costume design, direction and performance for the Bay.  Sam also received an award for 'Best Costumes for a Play' as well as being nominated for 'Best Set for a Play' for 'A Murder is Announced' .

It is the third Gold Cat to be awarded to the Bay Theatre Players. Candy Burgess, who was nominated for best actress for her role of Miss Marple in ‘A Murder is Announced’, won the Gold Cat in 2006 and Matthew Burgess won in 2014.

Myf Thompson won the award for Best Actress in a Featured Role in a Play for her performance as Dora Bunner in 'A Murder is Announced'. It was her second CAT trophy, having won for the 'Best Magic Moment of Theatre  in ‘The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society Murder Mystery’ in 2008.
